AboutMyWork

My work explores the meeting point between language, culture, and visual storytelling. I have painted throughout my life, developing my foundation in the advanced art track at school and later completing a two‑year program in painting and graphic arts at a private art school in Austria. Early exhibitions in the United States and Europe shaped my understanding of art as a dialogue across cultures — a dialogue that continues to define my practice today.

After a long professional chapter outside the arts, I returned to painting in 2024 with a sharpened focus. Since 2026, I have been actively developing a body of work centered on illustration and the visual interpretation of idioms. Idioms fascinate me because they reveal how cultures imagine their worlds: through metaphors, humor, contradictions, and emotional landscapes. I collect idioms from different countries, compare their meanings, and translate them into images that highlight both the beauty and the friction of intercultural communication.

This focus is rooted in my personal and professional environment. My family works in intercultural awareness training, and I am trained as a mediator to better navigate the misunderstandings that arise in international contexts. These experiences taught me that language is not only a tool — it is a worldview. My illustrations examine how these worldviews collide, overlap, and transform.

A second influence in my work comes from my engagement with Ayurveda’s elemental theory and Vastu Shastra. I became interested in how balance, space, and energetic principles shape human wellbeing. These ideas inform my compositions, guiding how I use form, rhythm, and spatial tension.
